When looking for a primary care doctor, patients want someone who is approachable, compassionate and knowledgeable. That’s exactly what you will find with Dr. Brittany Behm, a physician at University Hospitals Bainbridge Primary Care in Chagrin Falls.

Practicing family medicine with an emphasis in preventative care, Dr. Behm also specializes in chronic disease management, orthopedics, dermatology and women’s health.

“I offer cradle-to-the-grave care,” says Dr. Behm. “I care for infants, seniors, and everyone in between and enjoy getting to know my patient’s entire family.”

She moved down south and practiced in Virginia and North Carolina before moving to Northeast Ohio and joining University Hospitals last year.

“After our daughter was born, we wanted to move to be closer to family as my husband is from Bainbridge,” says Dr. Behm. “Cleveland is known as a mecca for health care. I was glad to be moving to an area with so many available resources and specialties.”

“It was always my goal to work and live in the same town and be able to serve the community,” says Dr. Behm, who you can see around town hiking, biking, playing pickleball and rooting for Cleveland sports teams. “I believe building relationships is important, not just with my patients but also their entire families. Often these connections are multigenerational.”

At Dr. Behm’s practice, you’ll see her personally at every visit. “Patients have access to me and can get an appointment usually within a week,” she says.

As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Behm focuses on preventative medicine and treating the whole person.

“Being an athlete growing up playing sports, I always had an interest in how the body works, how everything is connected, and how structure and function work together,” says Dr. Behm. “I like the holistic approach of osteopathic medicine, and also like the scientific-based evidence side of medicine, so I offer the best of both worlds.”

Dr. Behm recommends patients see a primary care doctor once a year for an annual well visit. “It is important to establish a relationship with a primary care doctor so when something comes up, you already have a relationship and someone you trust to advise you,” she says.

A preventative exam includes—depending on your insurance coverage—everything from vaccinations to screening blood work to a physical exam, along with any necessary age-related preventative care services.

“During the initial consultation with a patient, I recommend they check with their insurance company to see what is covered as it varies,” she says. “Patients need to be savvy consumers so they get the best care.”
