It’s unusual for a contractor to receive 100% five-star Google reviews. Tom Kurtz of Kurtz Concrete believes his effusive customer feedback is the result of solid client communication, a crew he employs that takes its craft passionately, and treating every job as if it were his own home.

“Since it’s my reputation and name on the truck, I make it a point to meet with every customer for their estimate and be on every job site,” says Tom, who has been in the concrete business since he was 18 years old.

The company works with all types of concrete flatwork such as driveways, patios, garages, basements, slabs, pole barns, pool decks, additions, steps, hardscapes (like seat walls and firepits) and much more, while specializing in decorative stamped concrete.

Endless Design Options
Decorative stamped concrete has been around since the 1970s, but over the past few years, the style and color options have evolved. These options offer greater affordability and durability compared to other outdoor materials, such as pavers and decking.

“Seamless skin is an affordable option that doesn’t have grout lines,” he explains. “For more luxurious looks, we can create border treatments. Most homeowners in our area want to mimic the look of natural materials such as flagstone, slate or wood planks.”

Stamped concrete comes in a large variety of colors and patterns which can complement any home. Tom’s wife Teri, who is the Business Manager for the company, works with homeowners to help them with their decision as to which colors may best suit their needs. Tom and Teri explain that they only use top quality products such as the integral color that goes all the way through the concrete and provides UV protection. “We also use top grade sealers to protect surfaces, add luster, and lasting beauty year after year,” states Teri.

Kurtz Concrete builds many patios using the timeless effect of randomly interspersed rectangles and squares that will never go out of style.

What’s the #1 Seller?
Tom says his top pattern is called Ashlar Slate.

“This natural stone look works well with patios, walkways and even driveways,” he says. “It’s a timeless effect of randomly interspersed rectangles and squares that will never go out of style.”

Nipping at the heels of Ashlar in the number two spot is concrete stamped to look like wood planks.

“No one wants the chore of maintaining real wood anymore,” he explains. “Planks give the rustic feel of wood without any staining, sealing or power washing. All at a fraction of the cost.”

What Homeowners are Saying
Kurtz Concrete seems to hit a sweet spot of affordable pricing and expert craftsmanship.

Jeff N. had Tom and his crew remove his existing concrete patio and install a beautiful new stamped patio: “Tom was flexible and understanding on schedule changes that were necessary based on other work being completed. Tom brings a great deal of knowledge and is very ‘hands-on’ working alongside his crew. The finished product is amazing. We went with a pattern that resembles planks of wood. I would hire Tom again without hesitation.”
Stephen O. says that selection was integral to his satisfaction with the finished patio: “Very good job overall. Helped us greatly in picking the right design for our needs and also with decorative pattern and color. He was easy to work with and understood our needs right away. Work was performed as agreed upon and in a timely manner. Very professional and high quality.”
