Shimmer Spa founder Melanie Rongone has made a name for herself by bringing to the area an inviting oasis of natural and organic skincare and massage services, nails and hair.
New Facial Taps into Leading-Edge Modalities With the recently introduced H2Glow Hydro-peel Facial, Melanie has demonstrated her innate ability to bridge the space between clinical treatments and soothing med-spa ethos. “This facial taps into several leading-edge anti-aging modalities, including an Image Skincare peel, hydrodermabrasion and radio-frequency that infuse targeted serums into the skin, including hyaluronic acid, brightening serum and an epithelial growth serum,” she says. “The goal is to exfoliate to remove impurities and the top layer of dead skin cells, then treat it at the deepest basal level to help skin regenerate. Just in time for the holidays, the H2Glow will reveal smoother, softer, refreshed skin.”
Melanie says the nice kicker to the service is that it’s actually as relaxing and ultra-soothing as it is clinically effective. It’s available in 30-, 60- and 90-minute treatments, and adding dermaplaning to the service—to get rid of any peach fuzz with a surgical scalpel—spurs even better results.
Structured Gel Manicures are Trending
“Instead of using harsh chemicals, Structured Gel Manicures use a reinforced gel that’s strong, flexible and fillable (no more scraping),” she says. “Manis last three weeks and protect the nail bed for a healthier outcome. They also help nails grow to a natural length.”
Jelly Pedicures are also popular this time of year, providing intense hydration and exfoliation. The staff pick for best new jelly scent is the Milk & Honey, rich, sweet and nourishing.
Creating Beautiful Brows
Nothing punctuates your face like a glamorous pair of eyebrows. Shimmer microblading specialist Amanda Sroka is a true artist, working to create semi-permanent brows to match an individual’s face shape and hair color.
“I use a compass to measure the eye area, producing an arc for a very natural-looking brow shape, then I fill that in with hundreds of tiny strokes that resemble hairs,” she says.
Following the initial service, she gives clients a touch-up after six weeks. The resulting brows last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on skin type.
“Ladies look more awake and youthful and love not worrying about having to put on eyebrow pencil anymore. They just roll out of bed and look fabulous,” she says.

Hairstylist Andrea Baon came to Shimmer Spa recently because she had known Melanie for years and thought there would be a positive energy here.
“Working with Paul Mitchell and Redken, I enjoy cuts and color, and working with hair’s natural structure,” she says. “I love bringing out people’s best.”
