Jennifer Brogan’s high-profile career as a NASA food scientist—working in a laboratory to create meals the astronauts will consume on the International Space Station—means she delves deeply into the science and efficacy of nutrition. She’s adept at analyzing macronutrients that will promote optimum performance.

When it came to optimizing her own physical performance, as a wife and mom to four busy children between the ages of 7 and 11, when she turned 40 last year, she decided to investigate personal training to build strength and endurance.

She researched the options and MaxStrength Fitness came up with the top ratings and reviews.

Now celebrating one year working out here, Jennifer is thrilled with the results.

“I believe that strong is the new skinny,” she says. “Meeting with founder Jeff Tomaszewski and going over his research about muscle loss as we age was profound. I plan to gain muscle, not lose it.”

For someone who is strapped for time, the protocol of two 20-minute workouts per week sounded like a good fit for her.

Another aspect she appreciates is how she’s often the only client or one of a couple clients working out at the same time.

“It’s very quiet, controlled and productive,” she explains. “There’s no ‘gymtimidation’ of crowds of other people on machines. It’s just me and the trainer getting the work done. As a very structured person, I thrive in an environment of precision and accountability. When I show up for a workout, my trainer is there waiting for me.”

Boosting Strength, Avoiding Injury
Jennifer spent three years working in Russia before moving to Westlake two years ago. Though MSF is her first experience working with a one-on-one personal trainer, in the past she did small group bootcamp-style training, and the classes led to multiple injuries like shin splints and IT band issues.

“Since starting here, I haven’t had any injury,” she says. “The trainers are totally focused on my workout and the high-tech equipment produces a surprisingly effective and exhausting workout in a short amount of time.”

Jennifer’s results in building strong, lean, toned muscle have been so transformative, her husband, an aerospace engineer for NASA, has also come on board.

“As important as what I see in the mirror, training here has been a real boost to my self-confidence. I feel a sense of accomplishment every time I walk out of the studio,” she adds. “I’m always trying to put forth actions that set a good example for my kids. MaxStrength Fitness checks that box.”
