With the launch of his newest Floorz location in Mayfield Heights, Brian Erickson is determined to cover Northeast Ohio in the most fashionable flooring available

Brian Erickson wants his Floorz stores to be the best. But in order to be the best, you have to commit to the operational side of the business—not just the front of the house.
That’s why in 2021, he completed construction on a 20,000-square-foot warehouse located in Brecksville. “Our warehouse experience is as much a customer-focused environment as our retail stores—even though most customers will never see it,” Brian says.
What does that mean to people on the east side? The same folks who are just getting to know Floorz in Mayfield Heights?
Dependability.
While Floorz might seem like the new kid on the block in this area, it’s actually a 10-year-old success story that’s been flourishing in Montrose and Strongsville. And before cutting the ribbon on his newest Mayfield Heights location, Brian wanted to be sure he was ready to keep up with demand. So, as a precursor to the growth on the east side and beyond, he constructed a mammoth warehouse in Brecksville, where every job, no matter where it’s headed, is prepared—from the materials and trim to adhesive and caulk—so installers simply need to back their trucks up to one of four bays to load up and be on their way.
Wait times for installation have been slashed and installers aren’t running to the hardware store because they’re missing a tube of caulk or box of nails. Jobs can be completed more efficiently, which saves on overhead, which means prices can remain competitive. Oh, and those installers? They work exclusively for Floorz and embrace the same HIPS mantra (honesty, integrity, passion and servitude) all employees throughout the organization keep their arms wrapped around.
“One of the biggest reasons for creating this type of warehouse was to bring in house everything we previously had to outsource. It’s just one more way to enhance the customer experience. Now there’s no waiting for certain elements of a job to be completed, and there’s no downtime during installations,” Brian says.
Hello, Mayfield Heights
With the confidence of at-the-ready inventory and on-time installation built in to every purchase, homeowners in this area can delight in finally having a bountiful selection of flooring products from which to choose. Gone are the days of big-name brands only. Floorz specializes in the special and the unique. In fact, Brian makes several buying trips each year to source the latest and greatest flooring styles.
For Floorz to remain an area leader in the flooring category, product selection can’t grow stale. That’s why Brian and his team forecast the trends, scout the marketplace and regularly introduce the next big thing.
In addition to classic lines line Karastan, Mohawk and Shaw, Floorz also delves into the boutique lines, like Godfrey Hirst, Stanton, Emser, Soho Mosaics and Karndean Design Luxury Flooring among others. In fact, so impressive is the selection at Floorz that interior designers regularly send their clients here.
“If you’re looking for the distinctive and unique, we’ve got that,” Brian promises. “Your visit to Floorz is never the same twice. Sit down with one of our in-store designers who will happily help you pull a look you’ve been looking at on Pinterest or Houzz together in your own home. Heck, our store manager in Mayfield Heights even has a degree in interior design. And those services are offered free to our customers, no matter how large or small the project.”
In addition to carpet brands that span the affordable to the luxurious, Floorz also features several different lines of tile, hardwood flooring, area rugs and luxury vinyl. “We’ve got thousands of styles to choose from,” Brian shares.
Floorz is a leading choice for area builders whose budgets range from the simple to the more complex. “Every level of flooring is represented here,” Brian promises.
Back to the Beginning
“When I started Floorz 10 years ago, I was determined to become the best flooring company in Northeast Ohio,” Brian shares. “The way we’ve done that is through our HIPS pledge. It’s our philosophy and we preach it daily. Our reputation in the industry is stellar, among our vendors and our customers. That didn’t happen by accident. It happened because we do things right.”
It’s a philosophy that works. Floorz launched in Montrose with three employees and today, with the addition of the newest location in Mayfield Heights, the Strongsville location and the warehouse in Brecksville, that number tops out at 35. In addition to designers, included on staff are project managers, warehouse staff, installers and delivery personnel.
So, how can Brian be so sure his Floorz will be the next big thing on the east side?
“We’re very particular about not only the staff members we employ but also the vendors we work with and the products we carry,” he notes. “Everyone we work with is held to our standard of quality. All of the products we carry must pass this test. Everything at Floorz, from start to finish, is consistent.”
Consistently exceptional, that is. And, consistently evolving.
