When Dr. Jorge Garcia-Zuazaga founded Apex Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center in 2011, he had a mission to transform lives through healthy skin. Whether helping a patient to become cancer free, improve acne or smooth away wrinkles, Apex has been empowering people ever since.

And to help more Northeast Ohioans, Apex is expanding its reach. This fall, Apex opened a new office in Westlake. This office joins the other six facilities in Mayfield Heights, Solon, Concord, Hudson, Parma and Medina to offer comprehensive skin cancer surgery, medical dermatology and innovative aesthetic services.

“When I founded Apex Dermatology, my vision was to create a complete dermatology center where patients can experience the highest level of dermatologic care with same-day appointments,” says Dr. Garcia, who specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery.

“People should not have to wait a month for skin cancer treatment or sit two hours in the waiting room to be seen.”

It is this patient-centric approach that has catapulted Apex Dermatology to become a leader in skin care.

Setting the tone in the new Westlake office is Dr. Aziza Wahby. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Iowa, Dr. Wahby’s love of classical music brought her to the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she earned a master’s degree in violin performance. After earning her music degree, she decided to follow in the footsteps of her mother, a nurse, and father, an orthopedic surgeon, and further her education in medical school in New York and Florida. She completed her dermatology training at University Hospitals, bringing her back to town where her fiancé plays violin for the Cleveland Orchestra.

“At Apex, our patients are first and foremost,” says Dr. Wahby. “I can take care of any skin concerns for both children and adults. Plus, I offer aesthetic services, including laser treatments for acne scars, wrinkles and pigmentation, as well as fillers and injectables.”

Very personable, Dr. Wahby is a doctor of osteopathic medicine and applies those philosophies to skin care.

“My approach to patient care is to take care of the whole person, including their psychological well-being, when dealing with skin disease,” she comments. “In addition to annual skin care exams, I advocate that my patients go to their eye doctor, dentist and OB/GYN for annual exams, as those are all areas you can get skin cancer.”

Joining Dr. Wahby in the new Westlake office is Medical Aesthetician Anne Keller. With more than 15 years of experience, Anne specializes in skin rejuvenation treatments, including body contouring, dermaplaning, chemical peels and specialized acne treatments.

“My goal is to get patients’ skin in the greatest health possible, so they are not prone to aging, rosacea and sun damage,” says Anne, who studied cosmetic lasers at the National Laser Institute in Arizona and is a Certified CoolSculpting Specialist.

“I have done more than 3,000 CoolSculpting treatments over the past few years and my patients love the results,” she comments. “I also partner with Dr. Wahby to offer specialized acne treatments, develop a skin care regimen and prevent or reverse acne scarring.”

“At Apex, we build strong relationships and truly invest in our patients to help them maintain healthy and vibrant skin,” Dr. Wahby adds.
