Whether you’re a youngster with gait issues, an athlete or dancer with overuse conditions, a diabetic with neuropathy, or a senior with general foot pain, Dr. Danielle Shaper of Finesse Footcare in Lyndhurst has the expertise and advanced equipment to take the pain away and make things right.

“This time of year, I tend to see more patients who are settling back into their routines after summer,” she says. “I see lots of sprains and strains from runners returning to their passion, maybe a little too much and too soon. Or new patients who have just begun a walking program.”

Dr. Shaper says no matter what your foot issue, she can almost always correct and improve it.

“Whenever a new patient comes to me and says they’ve been suffering in pain for years I feel bad,” she says. “No one should suffer needlessly.”

Radial Shockwave therapy helps eliminate heel pain and other traumas.

Two treatments she specializes in include the Lunula laser to address stubborn toenail fungus, and Radial Shockwave therapy to eliminate heel pain and other traumas. She also offers a spectrum of services for diabetic footcare.

In practice for the past 11 years, before she introduces a new piece of medical equipment, she always researches the clinical studies behind it.

As a full-service podiatrist, Dr. Shaper also treats foot and ankle issues ranging from ingrown toenails to bunions, heel pain, hammertoes, corns, warts, calluses and sprained ankles. She also offers custom orthotics inserts. She always starts treatment conservatively, with minimally invasive care, and only sees surgery as a last resort.

The Power of Stretching
To avoid pain or injury, whether it’s acute or repetitive, stretching is always recommended.

“No matter the age or capability of a patient, proper stretching is key to preventing painful issues down the road,” she says. “I take the time with each patient to go over the best stretching routine for them to do before and after exercise and daily.”

She also notes that pain or injury that begins in the feet can also affect the knees, hips and even back and neck.

What Patients are Saying
“I came here for the latest technology to deal with a foot issue and I stayed because of the all-around excellence,” says Peter V. “Dr. Shaper is kind, skilled and patient. She masterfully tends to me and I never feel rushed. The front desk staff always seems to drop everything for me when I come in. I could not be happier with the treatment I receive from this practice.”

New patient Melissa was thrilled to be seen right away when she called for an appointment to address her painful problem. “Dr. Shaper is great and very knowledgeable,” she says. “The staff is friendly and so helpful. She is patient and spent time with me even though I was squeezed into the schedule. I never felt rushed and my treatment was painless and successful. I totally recommend!”

As a runner, Barb B. feels like Dr. Shaper, who is also a runner and a dancer, understands her. “I’ve been very pleased with Dr. Danielle Shaper as my podiatrist because she is very experienced and knowledgeable,” says Barb. “I’ve had my share of foot and lower leg issues. Dr. Shaper was spot-on in diagnosing the toe and ball of foot pain I was experiencing and recommended orthotics, which were exactly what I needed. It’s a really welcoming office, too, as her staff is friendly and very helpful.”
