Fairlawn’s all-new Aro Hair Salon is inside the former West Point Market

After four years establishing its reputation as an elite salon in Fairlawn’s Merchant’s Square, Aro Hair Salon has relocated into a stunning new space in the former West Point Market location on Shiawassee Avenue. The new salon is a whopping 4,000 square feet of leading-edge hair and scalp technology in a contemporary environment that is both cosmopolitan and inviting.
The new, dedicated consultation table features the Kerastase K-scan system where stylists can diagnose your hair and scalp with 500x magnification.
“Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp,” says hair designer and Aro managing partner Kelly Delagrange. “We can diagnose an oily or dry scalp as well as thinning hair and then make proper recommendations. It’s important to give your scalp the same attention you give your face.”
To that end, the new Aro includes a scalp care room, which features the state-of-the-art Yume shampoo system. Instead of your neck resting on a folded towel over a porcelain bowl, you lean back into an astonishingly soft gel headrest. Comfort is important because this is where you can experience a 30-, 45- or 60-minute scalp massage and hair treatment featuring renowned Philip Kingsley products.
Aro’s new nail spa features natural and artificial nails, gel manicures, and a variety of relaxing pedicures. “We even included a HEPA air filtration system that removes nail product dust from the environment, making it safer and more comfortable for our clients and employees,” Kelly says.
You’ll also want to experience the new spray tan room boasting the VeraSpa Pro—a heated application that delivers a flawless glow. Right now as a pre-grand opening door buster special, salon founder Joseph Arrowood is offering ten spray tans for $50. That’s $5 each when they are regularly priced at $25 each.
“This is a savings of $200, which is an incredible value for our current and prospective clients,” Joe says. “We’re doing it as an incentive to introduce our new salon to the community.”
A major part of the Aro philosophy is to enable each stylist to have a meaningful, rewarding, well-paying career instead of just being “hobbyists.”
“We hire personality then train skills,” Joe says. “This allows us to nurture and motivate smart, compassionate people while introducing them to the Aro culture. Just off the new contemporary lobby—behind the custom-built steel barn door—Aro is putting the finishing touches on a dedicated lash room, offering lash lifting, lash tinting, eyelash extensions, and eyebrow threading.
The open and expansive salon floor features a number of stylist stations plus two coloring bars complete with charging stations for your cell phone or other electronic device.
“We tried to think of everything,” Kelly smiles.
As a Redken Elite Salon, Aro offers Redken color and lighteners along with Pureology and Kerastase treatments.
