As we cover our outdoor patio tables and stack up the deck chairs, it’s time to take a look inside to see how we can make more space for our family and friends to gather.

Maybe it is time to refinish your basement to add a new level of living space. Or, with so many people working from home and taking online classes, you need room for a home office or dedicated area to do homework. Or, it may be time to finally get your dream kitchen.

At Kaye Construction, the team has creative design ideas and the technical skills to make you love your home year-round.

With their trademark beards—depicted in the company logo—the Kaye family has earned a reputation for quality workmanship. Working in the home remodeling industry for more than a quarter century, Ron learned skills from both of his grandfathers, one the ultimate do-it-yourselfer and the other a farmer, and would work side-by-side with them on home projects when he was a teenager garnering all he could from his role models. And now, a generation later, Ron has passed along his know-how and work ethic to his sons, Joe and Josh, who he jokingly says were born with a hammer in one hand and a screwdriver in the other.

It may be time to finally get your dream kitchen.

“You will find us working together on every project,” says Joe. “Unlike bigger home improvement companies, where you never meet the owners, we oversee each job personally.”

Finished Basements
The easiest way to add more space to your home is to finish your basement. And if your basement is already finished but is dated, Kaye Construction can breathe new life into your lower level.

Whether you design it as a second family room, home gym, sports bar, movie room or man cave, you can often double your living space.

Kaye Construction will take care of everything from the ground up, including flooring, drywall, lighting and cabinetry.

“Homeowners are also opting to put an office downstairs because so many people are working from home and children are taking online classes,” says Josh. “Having a dedicated space in the basement helps keep you organized, and you are less apt to be distracted downstairs.”

“We have been installing a lot of luxury vinyl tile plank flooring this year,” says Joe. “These tiles are waterproof and extremely durable, so they are ideal for basements.”

Room Additions
Whether adding more space for a dedicated office, enlarging the master bedroom and bathroom, or building a new great room, an addition adds functionality to your home.

“If you love your house but need more room, it is easier to add space than selling and buying a new home,” comments Joe. “By building an addition, you can stay in the neighborhood you love.”

“For us, remodeling is more than just sprucing up a home by adding new flooring and cabinets. We also think about how we can make a space more functional,” he adds.

Kaye Construction recently built a two-story addition for a Sheffield homeowner. “We built on 10 feet to the side of the house, which added 700 more square feet of livable space,” says Joe. “Now they have a new living area, kitchen and dining room downstairs, as well a new master bedroom and huge walk-in closet upstairs.”

The company also has been building additions to enlarge master bedrooms and adjoining bathrooms. “By adding square footage to the footprint of the home, we were able to construct a large master bedroom, along with a spa-like bathroom for a Westlake couple,” says Joe. “Both the new walk-in closet and walk-in shower provide ample room.”

A home addition can also allow seniors to age in place. For one Lakewood couple, that meant building a bathroom addition on the back of the house, along with a deck and wheelchair ramp, so they could remain in their home located on a beautiful tree-lined street near the lake.

Kitchen Remodel
You don’t always need to add square footage to your home to make it function better. Often referred to as “the heart of the home,” the kitchen always seems to be the place where everyone gathers, making a kitchen upgrade one of the top items on many homeowners’ renovation lists.

Kaye Construction can take a closed-off kitchen and make it function better while also opening it up to the rest of the house.

“A lot of older homes have walls separating each room, but nowadays people like a more open concept, so we have been taking down walls separating the kitchen from the living room or dining room,” says Joe. “While this may not actually increase your footprint, you will gain more usable space and can make room for an island or pantry.”

“We can move the appliances and utilities around to reconfigure your space into a layout that’s better suited to your needs,” he adds. “Not only will this make the house feel bigger, it also improves the flow from room to room.”
