Here’s how Fitness Together helped one man get ready for golf season

Fitness Together is celebrating its one-year anniversary by putting some game back in your game—and giving away a swing evaluation at GolfTEC in North Olmsted—for anyone who joins now through the end of April.

“We knew the folks in Bay Village would be a perfect fit with our formula of science-based, one-on-one training in private exercise suites,” says owner Sean Sullivan. “This is a close-knit community, and once people see someone looking and feeling their best, they want to know how that happened. We’re thankful for how successful the studio has become.”

Nationally-certified trainers here include Rachel Pekarski and Mike Biello. They share a passion for fitness and training. They love what they do and it shows.

After meeting with you for an initial consultation, one of the trainers will create a customized program to help you achieve the results you’re looking for—from weight loss and building muscle to boosting flexibility, balance or endurance.

Getting in the Swing of Training
Results are the most obvious way to measure the success of a fitness program. But along with helping clients accomplish their goals, Sean believes his studio stands out from others in another way, too.

“It’s our down-to-earth customer service,” he says. “We greet our clients with a smile. As they walk in, we hand them a towel and a bottle of water. We treat our clients like family.”

Glancing over at his cousin, Kevin Sullivan, Sean pauses, then adds with a laugh, “Well, sometimes they are family.”

A PGA Golf Professional at GolfTEC, Kevin has lost almost 60 pounds since joining Fitness Together.

When the effects of age started to show in his golf game, Kevin decided it was time for some conditioning.

“I started to notice that my scores on the back nine were not as good as the front nine,” he recalls. “I realized the problem could be weight and fatigue. When your feet are aching at the end of a round, it’s time to do something about it. I decided to lose some weight and build some strength to see whether it would help—and it did. Before, I was noticeably dragging halfway through a round. But by the end of last fall, and after playing in Florida over the winter, I feel like I could run five miles after playing 18 holes—and I am seeing better scores.”

Building Strength and Endurance
Most of Kevin’s personalized workouts focus on building strength in the shoulders and hips, which are vital for driving the ball, as well as endurance to play rounds that can take several hours of walking different types of terrain.

“We utilize movements that you would use in everyday life,” says Sean. “For golfers, we do weight exercises that incorporate twisting and swinging that help, rather than hinder, their game.”

Motivation is a big advantage of training at Fitness Together.

“It’s easy to skip out on a group class or not go to the gym when left to yourself,” he says. “But when you make an appointment with a personal trainer, you are less likely to blow it off.”
